GANG POEMS APP!!

Best Game Ever

The fabulous Kristin Nielsen and I have been working on a Gang Poems app (see my previous post about this practice), and we’ve come up with a free word game that makes pointless creativity possible. And, as I said, free. You’re welcome.

If you go to

gang.jincywillett.com

You’ll see the home page. From there you can click on the sort of poem you want to contribute to (Ballad, Limerick, Haiku, Shakespearean Sonnet, Petrarchan Sonnet (we may add more—any ideas?). There’s a brief explanation of the format of each. If you include too many or too few syllables, or if your rhythms (iambic, anapestic, whatever) are off, or your rhymes don’t rhyme, the poems won’t work as well, but no problem, since you’ll be totally anonymous, unless you don’t want to be. Or you can adopt a nom de plume.

Once you click on the type of poem, you’ll go to a page that helps you start.

When you’ve completed your line (it will just be one line), make sure you save it.

That’s it.

You can return later and see if anybody has jumped in.

This is something we can all do whenever we have a spare minute, and the result will be a poem that is utterly original and wholly incomprehensible.
