Is anyone interested in a free writing workshop Zoom session? Asking because I think this is the only way I can begin to figure out how to set up (paid) workshops—it would be an experiment.
Here’s how it would work:
1. There should probably be at least 6 members. Why? Because one of the great values of workshopping is hearing from more than one reader of your work. Not just me. Of course you’d get my feedback, but ideally you’d get it from other readers too. This is how I’ve always run workshops.
2. I’m thinking it would be a one-hour session unless more than 6 people were involved, in which case it would be two hours.
3. If you’re interested, you’d let me know when it could be scheduled for you. I’d look over these schedules and (with luck) find a time that would work for everybody.
4. If you agree to the schedule you’d commit to submitting a chapter or story (limit, say, of 10 pages) to me ahead of time, so I could read it myself and send it to other members to read.
5. This would enable us to get right down to discussing everyone’s work without wasting time reading aloud. (Reading aloud is wonderful for poetry; not so wonderful for prose.)
With holidays coming up, perhaps we should focus on scheduling after New Year’s, but I’m opening to earlier scheduling too.
If you’re interested, please let me know (jincy@jincywillett.com) and I’ll get back to you with info.
I’d give it a go, although zoom gives me hives.
I would love to be a part of this. I could make pretty much evening work around here. I’ll try to keep my kids from making guest appearances.
